Transitional Employment

Transitional Employment is a partnership between Liberty Centre and local businesses in which Liberty Centre contracts for positions which are entry level and typically have a high turnover rate in the employer's place of business. Liberty Centre is responsible for selecting a member of the Clubhouse to fill the position, for training the member and to cover that placement if the member is unable to work. Once a member has worked a placement, generally for six to nine months another member is trained to work the position. The placement manager will stay with the new member and train them until they can do the job so the employer does not see any change in the quality of work. This gives many members an opportunity to gain work experience in a safe environment, where they cannot fail. The  member is paid directly by the employer.

Transitional Employment is mutually beneficial to the employer and to the member of Liberty Centre. The member gains actual work experience, references for future job applications and additional income .The employer gets a guarantee from Liberty Centre that the job will be completed each day and that all training will be provided by the placement manager.

When an employer contracts a position in their business with Liberty Centre a staff person from Liberty Centre, (placement manager), will be trained for that position. The placement manager will then train a member to meet the requirements of the placement. The placement manager will continue the on site support until the member can do the job independently. The lengths of time will vary depending on the member and the job. The placement manager will maintain contact with the employer and the member making sure things are running smoothly. Liberty Centre also guarantees the employer that either the member or the placement manager will be there to complete the duties of the placement.
